Etsy shoppers find listings by search, and Etsy search leans on your title and your 13 tags. So most Etsy research comes down to a few questions. Which phrases are worth targeting? How strong are the listings already ranking for them? Which tags do those listings use that you do not? And what are your competitors selling this week?
The Etsy tab in AM Jarvis Marketplace Research answers those questions from Etsy's own data. It is built on the official Etsy Open API, every number shows where it came from, and anything that is an estimate says so.
What is in the Etsy tab
- Keywords: a keyword score from real listings and shop sales, with related phrases that have less competition.
- Market insights: the tags, categories, prices, listing ages and top shops behind the top 100 results for a keyword.
- Tag optimizer: a score for each of your 13 tags against the listings that rank now, with replacements.
- Listing tools: a listing audit, an AI description, an AI listing image, an AI optimizer and a shop analyzer.
- Competitors: follow Etsy shops and see their daily sales, new and removed listings and price changes.
- Hot products: listings in popular searches that are gaining favorites fastest.
- My shop: connect your own shop to see your orders and revenue, and update listings after a preview.
Where the numbers come from
Listing counts, favorites, tags, prices, categories and shop sales come from the Etsy Open API. They are real Etsy numbers, read when you run the tool. Searches are reused for a few hours and listing details for up to a day, so repeated checks stay fast, and every result shows when it was checked.
One number Etsy does not give anyone is search volume. Etsy does not publish how many people search a phrase on Etsy, so AM Jarvis never shows an "Etsy search volume". Demand comes from Google instead, and the tool always says which kind:
- Google Ads data: average monthly Google searches in the United States for the phrase. These are Google searches, not Etsy searches, but they show how much interest the product has.
- Google autocomplete depth: when Google Ads data is not available, demand is rated by how many longer phrases Google suggests for "etsy" plus your keyword. It is a popularity signal, not a volume.
The 12 month trend also comes from Google Ads data. When it is not available, the result says "Trend not checked" instead of guessing.
Keyword score: demand against difficulty
Type a product keyword, such as "personalized dog collar". AM Jarvis reads the active Etsy listings for it, the top 20 listings, and the shops behind the top 10. It then rates:
| Part | How it is worked out |
|---|---|
| Difficulty (0 to 100) | 45% the number of active listings, 25% the median favorites of the top 20 listings, 30% the median lifetime sales of the shops behind the top 10. Higher is harder. |
| Demand (0 to 100) | Google searches from Google Ads on a log scale, or autocomplete depth when Google Ads data is not available. Always labeled. |
| Keyword score | 60% demand plus 40% of (100 minus difficulty). Higher is better. |
| Related keywords | Longer phrases Google suggests for "etsy" plus your keyword, each with its own listing count and a lighter difficulty. Phrases with at most half as many listings, or difficulty under 45, are marked as lower competition. |
Each related phrase also shows its length, so you can see at a glance which ones fit in a 20 character tag.
Worked example: reading a score
The figures here are illustrative, not a real result. Your keyword gets a demand of 70 and a difficulty of 55. The keyword score is 0.6 x 70 plus 0.4 x (100 minus 55), which is 42 plus 18, or 60. A related phrase has a demand of 50 but a difficulty of only 30, so its score is 30 plus 28, or 58. It is almost as good, with far less competition. That second phrase is a strong tag and possibly a better focus for a new listing than the head keyword.
Market insights from the top 100 listings
A keyword score tells you whether to compete. Market insights tell you how. For any keyword, AM Jarvis reads the top 100 active listings Etsy returns and their shops, and shows:
- Tags: the tags those listings use most, how many listings use each one and their average favorites.
- Categories: where the top listings are filed, so you choose the same category buyers are browsing.
- Prices: the price range, the median and a price chart.
- Listing age: how many of the top listings are under a month old, 1 to 3 months, and so on up to over 2 years. Many young listings near the top suggest new sellers can still break in.
- Views to favorites: how often views turn into favorites. Etsy does not say whether its views number is lifetime or recent, so compare listings with each other rather than reading it as exact.
- Top shops: the shops with the most listings in the top 100, with their lifetime sales.
- Personalization: the share of top listings that offer personalization.
Tag optimizer for your 13 tags
Paste a listing link, or a title and your tags, plus the keyword the listing should rank for. The tag optimizer reads the tags and titles of the listings that rank for that keyword now and scores each of your tags from 0 to 100:
- 45% how many ranking listings use the exact tag,
- 35% how relevant it is to the keyword and to the words ranking listings use,
- 20% for multi-word phrases, which match more searches than single words.
A tag over 20 characters, or a duplicate, scores 0, because Etsy will not accept it or it wastes a slot. Weak tags get a suggested replacement from the tags the ranking listings use most, empty slots get filled, and you get a list of 13 suggested tags ready to copy. It also checks whether your main keyword appears in the first 40 characters of the title.
Listing tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Audit and tags | Checks any listing: title length and readability, all 13 tags used, tags over 20 characters, single-word and duplicate tags, materials, description length and how often views became favorites. Then suggests fixes. |
| AI description | Writes a 180 to 320 word description from the facts you give it, with the main keyword in the first sentence. It is told never to invent materials, sizes or claims. |
| AI image | Makes a listing image in a studio, lifestyle or flat lay style with your AI provider. Useful for mockups and backgrounds. |
| AI optimizer | Writes a new title of up to 140 characters, exactly 13 tags of 20 characters or fewer, and a description, using your target keywords and the tags competing listings use. |
| Shop analyzer | Reads any public shop: lifetime sales, active listings, reviews, rating, years open, and sales per month and per listing worked out from those. |
The AI tools run on your own AI key. Images need a provider that can make images, such as OpenRouter, OpenAI or Google Gemini. Etsy asks that listing photos show the real item, so use AI images for mockups, lifestyle scenes and backgrounds, and always show the actual product too.
Competitor tracker with daily sales
Follow the Etsy shops you compete with, by shop name or link. Once a day AM Jarvis saves each shop's lifetime sales count, active listings, favorites, reviews and up to 500 of its listings with prices. Comparing one day with the next gives you:
- Daily sales: the change in the shop's lifetime sales count between two daily checks, with 7 day and 30 day totals.
- New listings: what the shop launched since the last check.
- Removed listings: what it took down or sold out of.
- Price changes: the old price, the new price and the change in percent.
Sales here are shop totals. Etsy counts a sale for each item sold, and some shops hide their sales count, so a few shops will show no sales. Etsy does not publish sales per listing for other shops, so no tool can show you exactly which listing sold. The first check saves a starting point, and daily numbers appear after the next one. Following shops costs no research runs.
Hot products
Every day AM Jarvis checks a set of popular Etsy searches, such as personalized gifts, wall art, digital planners and custom necklaces. It records the favorites of the top listings in each one and compares them over 3 and 7 days. The list shows which listings gained the most favorites, and marks a listing as Rising when it was listed in the last 60 days and is gaining at least 5 favorites a week, or at least 1 a day since it was listed. You can filter by search, category and price. Hot products is a shared daily snapshot, so browsing it is free.
My shop: connect with your Etsy login
Connect your own shop by approving AM Jarvis on etsy.com. AM Jarvis never sees your Etsy password. Once connected, you see:
- Your active listings with views and favorites.
- Orders and revenue by month for the last 12 months (up to the 500 most recent orders).
- Which countries your buyers are in.
- Your best selling listings by units and revenue.
To improve a listing, open it, write a new title, tags or description (or bring them from the optimizer), and check the before and after preview. Nothing changes on Etsy until you press Apply to Etsy. The new title is kept to 140 characters and tags to 13 of 20 characters or fewer. You can disconnect the shop at any time.
CSV export and client reports
Every table in the Etsy tab has a CSV export, so you can take keywords, tags or competitor listings into a spreadsheet. On the Agency plan, a Client report button turns a result into a clean printable page you can save as a PDF from your browser and send to a client.

What it does not do
- It does not show Etsy search volume, because Etsy does not publish it. Demand comes from Google and is labeled.
- It does not show sales per listing for other shops. Competitor sales are shop totals from Etsy's lifetime sales count.
- It cannot read shops that hide their sales count, and it follows up to 500 listings per shop.
- It does not change your Etsy listings without a preview and your click on Apply.
- It does not replace real product photos. AI images are for mockups and scenes.
